The "Eagle" comic had many really interesting big drawings of all sorts of railway operations in the 1950's, just the right vintage for Hornby Dublo. I have taken lots of photos of these, and, since they don't appear to be anywhere else on the internet, am publishing them below. They show how the locomotives, equipment and operations worked in a straightforward way, usually using cutaway drawings. If you haven't seen them before, I hope they give you as much fun as they did me.

A collector of Hornby Dublo 3 rail from Australia has kindly posted me copies of some drawings from a book called "Railways, Ships, and Automobiles Illustrated". These annotated drawings are also enjoyable to look at, and show various aspects of railway operation from a similar era to that depicted in the "Eagle". More nostalgia!
